Philanthropy Fortnight – giving at the heart of NI

Will to Give in conjunction with Giving NI and STEP NI are hosting a lunch event as part of Philanthropy Fortnight – Northern Ireland’s biggest celebration of charitable giving.

‘Charitable Giving by Will: 10 top tips for Will Drafters’ led by keynote speaker Sheena Grattan BL is taking place 1pm, 20th April at the Law Society NI. All solicitors, professional advisors and charities operating in Northern Ireland are most welcome to attend. The event is CPD accredited and free of change.

Elley Martin, Chair of Will to Give states, “Every one of our 47 member charities are delighted to have this opportunity to explore the significance of gifts in Wills to charities in NI, with such a crucial and influential audience. We all recognise the importance in taking a partnership approach with Giving NI and STEP NI. Together we really can achieve so much more for future generations, focusing on promoting strategic giving through charitable gifts in Wills.”

The two week series of workshops, seminars and networking events from April 18 to 29, celebrates the generosity, time, commitment and support that thousands of Northern Ireland people give every day to causes close to their heart.

This is the fourth annual Philanthropy Fortnight, which focuses on the practice of investing in good causes and explores new ways of promoting and developing the concept of strategic giving.

The series of events has been organised by a range of organisations including Giving Northern Ireland, the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland, Fermanagh Trust, Northern Ireland Environment Link, Will to Give, The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative, Arts and Business Northern Ireland and Audiences Northern Ireland.

The programme for Philanthropy Fortnight features a wide range of topics looking at everything from investing to preserve Northern Ireland’s environment and rich culture and heritage to leaving charitable donations in wills and the question of getting young people involved in philanthropy.
