“My mum was actively involved with Age Concern, as it was before it merged with Help the Aged to become the Age NI we know today.  At a time in her life when she could have been at risk of becoming lonely and vulnerable, the charity was there to ensure that she remained a vital member of her local community.  She volunteered, she learnt new skills and enjoyed very many new experiences and activities.  She even did some lobbying at Stormont on issues affecting older people.

I may not have much to leave but I hope my gift will in some way ensure that Age NI is always here, not just for me but also for my children as they get older.”

Dorothy and Age NI are supporting Will to Give Week 6th – 12th November 2017, raising awareness of the importance of making a Will and how you can leave a gift to charity or charities #changethefuture.

How your gift could support Age NI

  • £100 could fund 20 hot lunches for older people at one of our day centres
  • £1,000 could fund 5 days carer support for people living with dementia in their own home
  • £10,000 could fund day centre visits for 540 older people
  • £35,000 could fund a fully equipped minibus to transport older people to and from Age NI day centres

Gifts in Wills have made a huge difference to the services and support Age NI is able to provide older people in Northern Ireland.  Two of their day centres were opened as a direct result of gifts in Wills, making a huge difference to the lives of older people for years to come.

Another gift in a Will came in the form of a comfy armchair, ideal for one of our centres.  Any gift, large or small makes a difference.
