War on Want NI are supporting Will to Give Week 6th – 12th November 2017, raising awareness of the importance of making a Will and how you can leave a gift to charity or charities #changethefuture.
Kenneth Opio, born with HIV, lost his mum to a motor accident when he was 5 years old and since he had no one to take care of him he and his twin brother lived on the street. He was discovered by the Chairperson of the Acamutu group, which support people living with HIV/AIDs.
Kenneth reunited with his grandmother who barely has anything to survive on. He received a goat and the group members help the grandmother to farm the land to grow food. Kenneth now has some security of small income through the goat which will pay his school fees. However, his twin brother still lives on the street as efforts to engage him continue.
Groups like Acamutu offer a lifeline at some of the most critical points in a child’s or adult’s life.
War on Want NI works with these organisations to bring change to the lives of children like Kenneth; we believe in these children’s futures and hope that you do too.
