A legacy of hope in Hosanna
When Packie Lee passed away in 2010 he wanted to leave a legacy to help children in the developing world. Packie’s Goddaughter, Carrie, visited Hosanna in Ethiopia to see the difference her grand-uncle’s legacy has made.
A very caring man, he taught his family the importance of sharing what we have with members of our global family. It therefore came as no surprise to his family, when Packie passed away, to hear that he had left a gift in his will to Trócaire. Packie’s Goddaughter, Carrie, joined Trócaire on a visit to Ethiopia to see for herself the impact that this very special contribution has made.
Visiting a nutrition clinic that Packie helped to fund and witnessing the progress for families supported through a livelihoods programme to become self-sufficient, Carrie felt a deep pride in her godfather’s legacy in Hosanna.
‘It was a really special experience to see projects Packie has helped to support through his will, I’m extremely proud of my uncle. His memory lives on.’
Each year Trócaire is privileged to receive legacy gifts. This support significantly contributes to important projects – bringing light and hope to people throughout the developing world.
