As a Founder Member of Will to Give I have been so encouraged by the growth and development of the group over the years. The consortium has really gone from strength to strength and now with 60 local charities involved there are such great opportunities to network with other member charities, raise awareness about the vital role of legacy giving across the province, benefit from bespoke training and promote the work of our individual charities. It’s sad that only 4% of people here have an up-to-date Will. Will to Give has worked tirelessly to remind people that a Will is the only way to fulfil their final wishes and ensure that their loved ones are looked after as they would wish.
I was Treasurer of Will to Give for a period of 3 years and I am now the current Secretary.
Northern Ireland Hospice
I’ve worked for Northern Ireland Hospice for over 14 years in various roles. As the first Legacy Officer appointed by Hospice, I’ve devised a strategic legacy programme and am currently responsible for an annual legacy income target of over £1.8 million.
Gifts in Wills are crucial to Hospice as they transform the lives of local babies, children, young people and adults needing vital hospice care across Northern Ireland. In fact, they are crucial as they actually fund the care of 1 in 5 of our patients. Not only do we rely on these gifts to provide our specialist service today, but they will enable us to secure future care for our patients.
In 1998 we cared for 114 local people, today we care for over 3,000. Sadly we will continue to care for many more in the future as demand for our service grows So whether you want to remember a loved one, give something back to your community, say thank you or to help ensure Hospice is there for future generations, a gift in your Will, no matter how big or small, will make a huge difference.
