What we do
Tearfund is a Christian international aid and development agency. We go where the need is greatest, working through local churches to unlock people’s potential and helping them to discover that the answer to poverty is within themselves.
Tearfund works in Asia, Africa, Europe and South America. Our work focuses on some of the most challenging issues that face the world today, including disasters, environment and climate change, gender, health care, governance and corruption, water and sanitation, livelihoods and food security, among others.
We work by mobilising the church and providing them with training that equips poor communities to identify and use the strengths they already have to lift themselves out of poverty. We believe it’s very important to work with locally-based partners. They hold valuable local knowledge and are aware of who are the most in need within their community, thus ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
