What We Do

At Positive Futures, we’re positive about people. People with a learning disability, those with acquired brain injury and people with autism. We support children, adults, and their families, in Northern Ireland, through a range of truly person-centred Services including Supported Living, Residential Short Breaks, Shared Lives and Family Support.  Positive Futures believes that people with a learning disability have the same right as everyone else to pursue their dreams and transform their lives,  living in and contributing to, their local community.

We aim to provide just the right amount of support. We want the people we support to thrive, not just survive so we are always striving to enable the people we support to achieve the maximum amount of independence in their lives they can safely enjoy.

Gifts In Wills

Funding from Health Trusts no longer covers the cost of the support Positive Futures provides, this is particularly the case when it comes to our Children and Family Support Services, where we have long relied on raising additional funds to provide the group activities for children with a learning disability, and their siblings, that are so vital to helping a child learn to be with others, become used to group dynamics, learn to take turns, share and all the other vital social skills a child needs to be able to live a full life.

A gift in your will could provide the much-needed funds to support a group art, drama, music programme, or visits, for the children we support, not just children with a learning disability but also their siblings who are so often forgotten about in the focus on the child with the disability.  Positive Futures supports the whole family, and it is just as vital to provide support for siblings, who are often substitute carers and mums and dads, for whom just a little time spent on themselves can be so precious and beneficial in helping them be in the right place to support their family.  Your gift could also provide the special adaptations that may be needed for someone with a learning disability to live in their own home, instead of being in an institution. Enabling someone to live in a place they can call home, what a wonderful gift!
