About the Fishermen’s Mission
Established in 1881 the Fishermen’s Mission is the only UK-wide charity solely dedicated to helping active and former fishermen and their families.
Underpinned by Christian values, the Fishermen’s Mission provides “round-the-clock” emergency response every day of the year, delivering practical assistance to families of fishermen who have been killed, injured or lost at sea.
From the charity’s centre on the quayside at Kilkeel, our Port Officers deliver a comprehensive welfare outreach service, supporting 300 fishermen and their families in Northern Ireland each year in times of crisis, hardship and loss.
