This week is Dementia Action Week and we’re being asked to take action by starting a conversation with someone living with dementia.

Will to Give is looking at what it means to be a dementia-friendly community in Northern Ireland.

Alzheimer’s Society’s dementia-friendly communities programme encourages everyone to share responsibility for ensuring that people with dementia feel understood, valued and able to contribute to their community.

It’s about –

Making your community more dementia friendly – by providing information advice and resources on how to do this.

Making organisations more dementia friendly – this includes all organisations from the corner shop or local hairdresser to large chain supermarkets.

Creating a dementia-friendly generation – educating people aged 5-25 about dementia and how they can support social action in their own communities.

The Alzheimer’s Society Roadshow – which brings expert dementia advice, information and support directly to you.

Training and consultancy – which includes tailored dementia training and consultancy services across all sectors, delivered by specially-trained experts at an affordable price.

Dementia Friendly Awards – recognising people and organisations making a real difference in their local communities.
