Bloodwise
Business Genre:
Long Business Description:

Bloodwise

What we do

We’re the UK’s leading blood cancer research charity.

Blood cancer is the fifth most common cancer in the UK.

And while huge progress has been made in improving treatment since we started in 1960, it is still the third biggest cause of UK cancer deaths – taking more lives each year than breast or prostate cancer.

Even for those who survive, the long-term effects of treatment can be devastating.

We fund world-class research, ensure everyone affected has access to the right support at the right time, and campaign for better treatments.

Where we’ve invested, survival rates and quality of life have improved. We’re proud to say that UK blood cancer research leads the world.

Gifts in Wills

We know that when you’re considering your Will, loved ones come first. But once you’ve ensured their future, you could help improve the future for families affected by blood cancer by leaving a legacy to Bloodwise.

A gift in a Will, no matter the size, will change the lives of people affected by blood cancer. It could be the most important gift you ever give.

Every 14 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. In that instant, their life is changed forever.

Bloodwise doesn’t receive any government funding, and gifts in Wills, big and small, make up more than a third of our income every year. Without the gifts people like you leave in their Will, we simply couldn’t do what we do.

Gifts in Wills will help us fund the following work:

  • Develop better tests, so people can get an accurate diagnosis, more quickly
  • Funding research for cures for every type of blood cancer
  • Providing expert information and practical support for everyone affected by blood cancer.

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland

What we do

There is little that causes as much anxiety and distress as a diagnosis of cancer. In Northern Ireland, one in three people will develop cancer during their lifetime and around 9,200 are newly diagnosed every year. At Cancer Focus Northern Ireland, we are here to help, especially at those difficult times by providing a range of services for patients and their families.

We promote and support internationally competitive, high quality research into the causes, treatment and prevention of cancer. Many cancers previously thought to be incurable are now being treated successfully as a result of scientific research.

We undertake education and prevention programmes, targeting young people, those most at risk and hard to reach groups. These programmes are vital in raising awareness of cancer and explaining how people can reduce their risk of the disease. Our public campaigns and advocacy work is designed to raise public and professional awareness of cancer issues and to influence policy makers to improve cancer services and public health policy.

Gifts in Wills

You can do something really special simply by remembering us when writing your will. Gifts in wills play such a huge part as they are invested in ground-breaking cancer research. No matter how big or small your gift is, you will be doing something amazing by making a lasting difference to future generations.

Long Business Description:

Cancer Research UK

What we do

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Our groundbreaking work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has seen survival rates double in the last 40 years. Our scientists and doctors have contributed to most of the world’s top cancer drugs and we have pioneered the use of radiotherapy to treat cancer.

We don’t just do research. Every year we help millions of people get the information they need to understand the disease. And, together with our supporters, we campaign on key cancer issues including access to cancer drugs, screening and reducing the use of tobacco.

More than one in three of us will get cancer at some point in our lives. Our research to beat cancer is entirely funded by the public and thanks to that generosity our scientists, doctors and nurses are leading the world in discovering new ways to fight cancer. Research saves lives and our work is critical to ensuring more people beat this devastating disease.

Gifts in Wills

Legacies are our largest single source of income and fund over a third of our life-saving work. For example, they help to fund the world class research that takes place in Belfast at our research centre and in six other locations across Northern Ireland. Your gift can help us bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. For more information about our work and to see the impact that your legacy could have please visit our website.

Business Genre: ,
Long Business Description:

Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI

What we do

Leukaemia & Lymphoma is the only charity in Northern Ireland solely dedicated to funding research into blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

Every year we stop more people dying of blood cancer and our researchers are even working to stop people developing blood cancer in the first place. We improve the lives of patients with blood cancer because we believe everyone should be able to live their life to the full.

When our charity began in 1964, childhood leukaemia was a virtual death sentence. Now 9 out of 10 children with the most common form of this blood cancer survive.

We need your support to continue our vital research into better diagnosis, treatments and cures for blood cancers affecting patients of all ages.

Gifts in Wills

Every day in Northern Ireland, three people are diagnosed with a blood cancer. These cancers are the most common cause of cancer death in the under 35s but can affect anyone at any age.

We don’t receive any government funding and gifts in Wills currently make up approimately one third of our income each year. All the money we raise is spent in Northern Ireland and we simply wouldn’t be able to carry out much of our ground-breaking research without the generosity of people who include us in their Wills.
